Company Description

· Mountain Lea Lodge Long Term Care home is a 107 bed nursing home that bases practices around resident-centered care. A team of multidisciplinary staff provide nursing and end-of-life care to ensure the continued health, safety, and dignity of all residents who stay with us.

· The Meadows Community is a 33 bed home which aids participants in activities of daily living and aims to provide a supportive, caring, home-like atmosphere to those with alternate abilities.

Key Responsibilities

· Reporting to the Director of Allied Health and/or Administrator, the Clinical Dietitian is responsible for the nutritional management of all residents/participants. The Clinical Dietitian works collaboratively as a member of the interdisciplinary care team, follows best practice guidelines when implementing, monitoring, and evaluating resident/participant care plans, and participates on working groups and sub-committees as appropriate. The Clinical Dietitian educates staff, residents/participants, dietetic students, and families on general and therapeutic nutrition practices, while working in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of Mountains & Meadows Care Group. Menu reviews and approvals are conducted bi-annually or as required by provincial licensing requirements and legislation. The chosen individual must be willing to take on various projects and duties based on the needs of the organization (i.e. research, committee participation, policy development/implementation, etc.).

Qualifications

· BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics at a recognized university

· Licensed member or eligible to be licensed with the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists

· Successful completion of an accredited Dietetic Internship Program

· Experience providing clinical nutrition services which promote optimal nutrition, health and quality of life (completing initial and follow-up assessments, implementing individualized nutrition care plans, responding to referrals, etc.)

· Experience conducting bedside swallowing assessments and enteral nutrition preferred

· Familiarity with menu development and review - ensuring the nutritional requirements (therapeutic diets), seasonal variations, and food preferences of residents/participants are met as per Nova Scotia Long Term Care Program Requirements, Canada's Food Guide, and Canadian Dietary Reference Intakes (DRI's)

· Demonstrated passion to engage and participate with all residents/participants

· Ability to lead others to enhance the social, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being of residents/participants

· Knowledge of, and experience with, geriatric and altered ability populations an asset

· Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, interprofessional team

· Ability to work in a respectful, compassionate manner with all staff/residents/participants/families

· Self-directed, flexible, and open to change

· Commitment to continuous quality improvement and learning

· Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills

· Experience with Microsoft Office software and foodservice management computer applications

· Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information at all times and work with a high level of integrity

· Excellent communication skills (verbal, non-verbal, and written)
