The New Brunswick Precision Medicine Center (NBPMC) is a new health research institute adjacent to the George Dumont Hospital in Moncton and affiliated with the Université de Moncton. The laboratory of Dr. Louis R. Lapierre, established at Brown University in 2015, moved to the NBPMC in 2022 to establish research programs on the biology of aging and the development of solutions against aging-related diseases. RESPONSIBILITIES:
The person in this position will be responsible for conducting current projects on protein homeostasis and selective autophagy, using biochemical, microscopic, and genetic approaches. In particular, the candidate will be tasked with managing the daily operations of strain and database maintenance, as well as designing, executing, and analyzing experiments aimed at deepening our understanding of the regulation of protein homeostasis and selective autophagy in longevity and aging of the nematode C. elegans. These projects are funded by a discovery grant from NSERC.
The candidate will work under the supervision of Professor Louis R. Lapierre, from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A minimum of an undergraduate degree, ideally a graduate degree in biochemistry or a related field.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in biochemical studies (proteins, nucleotides, metabolites).
- Ability to work independently, as well as on online project management and bioinformatics analysis platforms.
- Proficiency in English and a good knowledge of French, both spoken and written.
ASSETS:
- Experience with C. elegans.
- ANNUAL SALARY: $45,000 to $55,000, depending on education and experience
- START DATE: January 2, 2025
