The New Brunswick Nurses Union (NBNU) invites applications to fill a permanent, full-time position for an innovative individual, with the innate ability to take complex concepts and distill them to their essence via all the digital media available in today's world. This "graphical storyteller" position will work collaboratively as a member of our Research, Education and Communications team, as the team member responsible for graphic design and the implementation of digital communications initiatives. The position is located at NBNU Provincial Office, in Fredericton, NB, with travel expected throughout the province; however, NBNU is willing to consider a work-from-home or hybrid location model within New Brunswick for the right candidate. The ability to effectively communicate in both NB's official languages will be considered an asset.

Job responsibilities include:

  • The development of digital content including photos, videos, infographics and email memos, ensuring accurate messaging and consistent voice across all digital and communication channels
  • The dissemination of content via NBNU's digital communication tools including social media channels, website, email memos, membership surveys and presentations
  • Monitoring the member discussion forum and NBNU's social media channels for respectful comments and content
  • Assisting in the launch and implementation of NBNU's renewed brand and website
  • The development of specific visual concepts for NBNU initiatives such as the Annual General Meeting, collective agreement negotiations and specific campaigns.

Specific Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Public Relations, Communications, Digital or Multimedia studies, Graphic Design or related field of study is sought, or a well-rounded portfolio and some real-world experience in public relations or communications may be demonstrated.
  • Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of products, including inDesign, Photoshop, After Effects and Premiere
  • Experience and knowledge of how to maintain a Wordpress website
  • Currency with the latest relevant technologies
  • Proficiency in writing for websites and social media platforms and a track record of graphical storytelling

Skills and Abilities:

  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision while participating as a member of a team;
  • Ability to use discretion, maintain strict confidentiality and take direction as required;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Display high emotional intelligence, tact, maturity, good judgment, self-motivation, empathy and cultural awareness.

Salary: Commensurate with experience, qualifications, and staff collective agreement (approx. $60-80K). Applicants are asked to forward their resume in confidence to:
