Saint Vincent's Nursing Home, a 148-bed accredited not-for-profit nursing home, has an immediate opening for a permanent, part time Therapeutic Assistant. Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Resident Care, the therapeutic assistant is a member of the resident care team who collaboratively ensures optimal care and services for residents. The therapeutic assistant works under the direction of the Recreation Therapy Coordinator to support residents on a one-to-one basis in achieving specific goals identified by the interdisciplinary care plan.

Qualifications

  1. Degree or diploma in Recreation Therapy, or in the process of completing degree or diploma in Recreation Therapy.
  2. Keen interest and experience working with the elderly population.
  3. Ability to work as a team member and independently.
  4. Time management and problem-solving skills.
  5. Good verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Experience with dementia an asset.
  7. Must display flexibility and innovation.
  8. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  1. Participate as a member of the resident care team to provide services that enhance leisure functioning and collaboration in the development of a plan to ensure resident's optimal well-being.
  2. Provide documentation of resident activity on the electronic health record.
  3. Promote and participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at improving resident care and services.
  4. Participate in the implementation of resident care team initiatives as identified in the strategic plan.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills and knowledge of behavior management techniques, along with recreation and leadership skills.

Salary and Benefits

Compensation for this position is commensurate on qualifications and previous experience.
