Employment Opportunity: Coordinator, Marketing and Communications (full-time, permanent, subject to a probationary period)

Established in 1789, the University of King's College is Canada's oldest chartered university and is associated with Dalhousie University. Reporting to the Chief, Enrolment and Student Life Officer within the Enrolment and Student Life Office (ESLO), the Coordinator, Marketing and Communications will play a key role in helping to support the recruitment and enrolment goals at the University of King's College. This will include integrating market research, recruitment intel and community consultation in the development, distribution and evaluation of recruitment materials and messaging. The coordinator will be responsible for the development and dissemination of specific informational messaging and calls to action to key markets largely through digital media. Creating content, producing analytic reports and executing campaigns addressed in marketing plans and editorial calendars will be a key component of this role.

The incumbent will work with the Manager, Marketing and Communications and other key stakeholders to develop an overarching annual Recruitment Communications Plan. With guidance from the Manager, Marketing and Communications, the incumbent will develop and deploy recruitment materials, messaging and plans on an ongoing, tactical basis. Using available data, the coordinator will assist in creating communication pieces to be used through King's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to engage prospective students, guidance counselors and other influencers. The incumbent will work with all members of the ESLO, other members of the King's community and external vendors as required.

Specific Duties/Accountabilities

The Coordinator, Marketing and Communications is responsible for the following:

Marketing/Recruitment Messaging

  • Participate in the joint development of key recruitment messaging and support annual creative and editorial content calendars with colleagues in the ESLO, Advancement Office and King's Agency of Record ("AOR"), and match creative assets (existing and desired) to content distribution needs to support and achieve enrolment targets.
  • Ensure that all recruitment marketing and communications content is organized and created following King's style and identity guides and distributed in a timely and effective manner. This includes the recruitment web pages, email communications, the Viewbook, photo and video content, direct digital, print and promotional items.
  • Using measurable KPIs, help fine tune relevant recruitment messages based on target audience, academic program and territory.
  • Annually collaborate on an ESLO review of recruitment materials (print, digital, website, merchandise, etc.).
  • Match creative assets (existing and desired) to content distribution needs for optimization on multiple digital platforms.
  • Develop, implement and track success of an annual direct communications plan with prospective students.
  • Write and implement specific marketing plans and campaigns for key recruitment events and initiatives.
  • Create video and static image content for recruitment campaigns.
  • Work with the ESLO to keep important information on the King's website up to date.

Marketing - Digital Media Purchasing

  • Collaborate with, and help advise, Agency of Rrecord on optimizing performance of digital paid media campaigns.
  • Align audience, purpose and medium (print and digital) to roll out key messages throughout the recruitment path via awareness, interest, engagement, commitment, and advocacy stages and observe digital marketing goals to align with each stage of recruitment. ­
  • Work with the Website Manager to help create, develop and improve recruitment-related web pages that can be used for lead generation in paid and organic media campaigns.
  • Assist in identifying and creating photo and video content.

Monitoring, Analysis and Evaluation

  • Monitor, analyze and report on marketing and communications campaigns. Make recommendations on key findings and insights in alignment with the Strategic Enrolment Plan and Operational Recruitment Plans.
  • Regularly review best marketing practices and ensure communication strategies/tactics stay current.
  • Analyze and track which content performs work best over time in email campaigns, video content and in paid media to help inform future marketing strategies.
  • Minimize email unsubscribes and optimize engagement and open rates in recruitment communications campaigns.

Internal Communications

  • Become familiar with different areas of the college to provide timely and effective communications to the King's community with respect to academic administrative matters.
  • Assist with face-to-face recruitment efforts whenever and wherever needed.

The successful candidate will need:

  • Minimum undergraduate degree and three year's experience in marketing/communications.
  • Previous experience working with a Content Management System.
  • Proven ability to collaborate in an office environment.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to complete work accurately and meet deadlines.
  • Technically savvy with a keen knowledge of and interest in digital strategy

It would be considered an asset if the candidate possesses experience with:

  • Content creation and distribution over multiple channels and platforms.
  • WordPress and creating/editing website copy.
  • Particular knowledge of humanities and journalism.
  • Experience with videography and video editing software.
  • Previous experience with an email campaign platform/software or Customer Relationship Management program.
  • Adobe Creative Cloud photo and video applications.
  • Experience managing suppliers (such as design agencies, merchandise vendors, etc.)

Salary will be commensurate with level of education and experience. The starting salary range for this position is $55,893 to $63,442 (including a comprehensive benefits plan with enrolment in the Nova Scotia Public Service Superannuation Pension Plan)
