Purpose:

The Medical Office Assistant, under the direction of the Director of Health & Wellness, is primarily responsible for providing office administration support during Physician and Nurse Practitioner (primary care provider) clinics in Bilijk Wellness Centre three days per week.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Organization, administration management of patient files, medical records, referrals and correspondence.

· Schedule/confirm patient appointments

· Organization and storage of confidential medical files and records for enhanced processes.

· Collaborate with the other medical office administrator and health centre team

· Operate office equipment. This includes photocopiers, fax machines, and document scanners

· Perform other clerical and administrative functions. This might involve, for example, ordering and maintaining an inventory of supplies.

· Other office administration duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

· Medical Office Administration post-secondary course preferred

· Minimum one year of experience working in a medical office or healthcare environment having experience and skills related to medical office administration

· Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures is an asset

· Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite).

· Strong organizational skills and problem resolution skills.

· Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities along with professionalism in maintaining patient confidentiality

· Must have a valid driver's license, acceptable driver record and must have own reliable means of transportation.
