Grand View Manor is a not for profit home known to support our community through our commitment to quality care and innovative support for both clients and our interdisciplinary team. In our 142 bed facility, care is provided in an enriched housing, an assisted living, and a nursing home setting. We are committed to providing holistic care to the residents we serve.
Located in Berwick, Apple Capital of the Annapolis Valley, we are one hour from Halifax and minutes away from the highest tides in the world. Work with us as we plan for our new state of the art facility scheduled to open in 2026.

Position Summary:
The CCA will work to full scope of practice by providing day to day personal care to the residents under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager/Shift Supervisor/Team Leader. They will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities may include total resident care, bathing, dressing, mobilizing, communication/documentation, assessment, providing outreach services to our assisted living/enriched housing settings and completion of other related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Provides total personal care to the resident including physical, emotional & spiritual
- Assesses resident's clothing needs & passes information through Nurse Manager to family/ responsible person
- Insures that the resident's room is a safe environment
- Assesses resident's skin integrity, changes in behavior and changes in resident's regular routine and reports to team leader and/or supervisor.
- Close communication with the Nurse Manager, Shift Supervisor, LPN Supervisor &/or Team Leader is essential
· Maintains good working relationships & open communication with staff of nursing and other departments, residents, families & the general public
· Attends & participates in nursing conference on each shift, monthly unit meetings & multi-team meetings as required
- Documents pertinent information in appropriate files
- Assists in updating care plans
- Attends residents care conferences
- Observes any changes in the resident's condition, immediately reports them to the nurse in charge on the unit & documents in the resident's chart
· Is available to work all shifts on all units as assigned
· Helps in the orientation of new staff
· Participates in team conferences & contributes to planning of resident care & work routines on the unit
· Shows respect for all staff in all departments
· Acts as a mentor to CCA students when necessary
· Helps to insure that the unit on which they are working is safe and the area is kept in good repair; also that the equipment they are using is safe and maintained in good working order. Notifies maintenance of any needed repairs.
Qualifications and Skills needed:
· Must be a graduate of a provincially recognized Continue Care Assistant course (or equivalent)
· Must have the ability to work well with others
· Excellent communication skills, verbal & non-verbal
· Good team player
· Physically able to perform the assigned tasks
· Resident-centeredness and passion for working with older people an asset
