Director of Strategic Initiatives
Location: A major centre in the Maritimes

Our client, a successful group of companies in the transportation industry, is looking for a leader who has the vision and ambition to develop and implement strategic initiatives that will drive growth.

Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for identifying opportunities for growth and assessing their viability based on a cost/benefit analysis. With your in-depth knowledge of the transportation industry, you have the insight required to recommend and develop new products, services and business channels and the proven expertise in implementing strategies that will lead to increased revenues. You will also, through structured and rigorous process, conduct risk assessments that will determine which initiatives will yield the greatest return on investment.

A leader with the tact and discretion required to work closely with all levels of sales and operations, you will be a key contributor in getting projects up and running. Your extensive industry knowledge coupled with a keen sense of urgency gives you the ability to quickly assess the short and long-term impacts of changing market conditions - and modify strategy accordingly. You also have the ability to establish metrics for measuring the performance of projects.

Additionally, you are experienced in creating key strategic relationships within the industry and nurturing these mutually beneficial partnerships. You will also provide senior management with structured, detailed analysis of complex business issues. A strong communicator, you are adept at articulating strategic direction so that it is clearly understood by all stakeholders.

To succeed in this high-level role you will have knowledge of various transportation services such as TL, LTL, intermodal, marine, rail and 3PL. A post-secondary degree in business is required, and an MBA would be an asset. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are a must, coupled with a proven ability to devise strategy and manage change.
